We remain with you after the birth for at least 2-3 hours or until everyone is stable and feels comfortable. We perform a newborn exam, help clean up, examine the placenta, check for tears and discuss options for repair and healing if needed, make sure you have something to eat, and assist with breastfeeding.
Follow-up care includes a 1 day (about 24 hours after the birth) and a 3 day visit to make sure everyone is doing well. We will then have 1 week, 3 week, 6 week, and 8 week visits. We are, of course, available 24/7 by phone if you have any questions or concerns.
